Provincial Festival

The Alberta Music Festival Association hosts the provincial level festival in Edmonton at the end of May. The provincial festival features participants from festivals across the province. Provincial festival participants are chosen by the adjudicators for the local festivals. There are a few key things to keep in mind if your goal is to continue on to the provincial competition.
-
Ensure you're registered for the correct classes in the local festival. Local addenda classes do not qualify for provincials. For piano performers, you have the option of Plan I (by age) or Plan II (by level). If you perform in an age specific class at the local festival, that piece will only qualify for a Plan I provincial recommendation. If you have any questions about how the qualify for provincials, check with the provincial coordinator.
-
Ensure you're registered for the right amount of classes. For most disciplines, performers must perform in at least 2 local classes.
-
Ensure you're performing the right repertoire. Some repertoire doesn't qualify for provincials. Check with your local provincial coordinator if you have any questions.
